Tasks and responsibilities
A Trainee Integrated Rating (TIR) completes a traineeship program to become a qualified Integrated Rating and obtain an Integrated Rating Certificate of Proficiency (CoP). The Traineeship includes 14 weeks studying Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Integrated Rating) before completing 12 weeks sea service as a Trainee Integrated Rating and then 24 weeks sea time as a Provisional Integrated Rating (PIR). Once qualified, an Integrated Rating is an internationally recognised Able Seaman. Typical tasks on the vessel may include cargo operations, deck and engine room maintenance, mooring, navigational watches and anchor handling.

Current AMSA Medical
Year 10 school certificate or equivalent
Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
Current Australian passport
Trade certificate highly desirable but not mandatory
Experience
Previous experience working on site with a rostered rotation either at sea, on an industrial or mining site, or military experience highly desirable but not mandatory
Experience in marine sector highly desirable but not mandatory
Skills and knowledge
Strong communication skills with the ability to work with different nationalities and cultural groups
Physical requirements
Physical capability to pass AMSA medical (including colour blindness test)
Ability to work offshore on a regular rotation roster
Ability to pass a BOSIET (if required)
Availability to mobilise and demobilise on vessel internationally if required
‘Hands on’ with good manual dexterity
