Talking offshore wind in Gippsland
Happy New Year! We’ve had a great start to the year attending two community festivals – Pearl Park Music Festival in Foster and Sea Days Festival in Port Welshpool, speaking with locals and visitors about offshore wind.
Next up, you can find us and other offshore wind developers at four drop-in information sessions in March across Gippsland:
Port Albert – Wednesday 12 March, 4 pm – 6 pm, Mechanics Institute
Golden Beach – Thursday 13 March, 4 pm - 6 pm, Community Centre
Sale – Saturday 22 March, 10 am – 2 pm, Nakunbalook Sale Botanic Garden
Leongatha – Thursday 27 March, 4 pm – 6 pm, Memorial Hall
Come along to hear about project plans and share your ideas and feedback.
Government agencies VicGrid and Offshore Wind Energy Victoria will also be there to answer questions about Victoria’s transmission and energy plans.
Find out more about the events here.
We look forward to meeting more locals across Gippsland at the Offshore Wind Days in March
Current Investigations
We'll be collecting soil samples along parts of the Star of the South transmission investigation area from February. These samples will help inform the design and construction of the project’s underground transmission system and environmental assessments to seek project approvals.

Supplier profile: Drakeford Studios
We visited Drakeford Studios in Yarram recently to catch up with Holly and Steph and understand how they could support the offshore wind industry.
Drakeford Studios provides graphic design and specialist printing services. They've supplied office signage and a range of printing needs for Star of the South over the years.
Holly said she loves seeing local businesses work together to benefit our region. “This new offshore wind industry will be a great asset to Gippsland businesses, providing more jobs for our community and a cleaner future", she said.
We’re looking forward to these new signs below being installed at our Yarram office.
Drakeford Studios are featured on page 29 of the Offshore Wind Supplier Showcase.

Did you know?
We’ve worked with leading scientists and research agencies from Australia and around the world to complete one of the biggest ever marine environment survey programs in Bass Strait between 2000-2024.
Scientists completed around 13,000 hours of work to gather more than 50,000 observations using 16 different data collection methods.
Data collected is now guiding the planning and design of Star of the South, while also building scientific understanding of the little studied Bass Strait marine environment.

Creativity is alive in Yarram
The fifth annual Chalk Art Festival hit the streets of Yarram over the long weekend.
We’re proud to have supported this unique event that is putting Yarram on the map for both local and international artists.
Artist Tatiana (right drawing) from Columbia had never used chalk in her art until this festival opened a new door for her.
This year's theme was ‘songs’, I wonder if you can pick which songs their designs were inspired from.
