Job opening – Environment and Approvals

We're seeking a Senior Manager, Environment and Approvals to work across Southerly Ten projects in Australia and New Zealand - including Star of the South.

With in-depth knowledge of environment planning and impact assessment, this position plays an integral role in our Environmental Impact Assessments, supported by a network of offshore wind professionals in a job that makes a real difference to our renewable energy future.

If you have experience in offshore wind development or major infrastructure project planning and delivery, apply now.

Applications close 27 June.

Local supplier profile: First Nations Traffic Management

We recently visited Aboriginal-owned First Nations Traffic Management to chat with Peter, Lionel and the team about their operations and how they could supply the offshore wind industry.

As a Kinaway certified member, around 70 of their 300 staff are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and a core focus of the business is changing lives through employment.

First Nations Traffic Management has been providing labour and traffic management services since 2019, including on the Victorian Government’s Gippsland Line Upgrade project.

While most of the construction action for Star of the South would happen offshore, traffic management would be needed on land where transmission cables are installed, to keep construction crew and drivers safe.

Managing Director Lionel said he’s looking forward to seeing the offshore wind industry kick off.

"Projects like Star of the South will create job opportunities for our mob across Gippsland - it would mean a lot to be part of building this new renewable energy industry".

First Nations Traffic Management is featured on page 13 of our Offshore Wind Supplier Showcase.

Talking offshore wind on ABC News

Following the announcement of feasibility licences earlier this month, our CEO Charles Rattray visited the ABC News Breakfast couch to talk about the progress of the Australian offshore wind industry – including the next steps for getting Star of the South up and running.

Offshore wind around the world

Offshore wind is playing a big role in energy systems around the world - including in Taiwan.

Construction of the 600 MW Changfang and Xidao project was recently completed, making it the sixth project operating off the coast of Taiwan.

One positive outcome of this project was local manufacturing opportunities - including parts of the 'jacket foundation' structures you can see behind the team below.

This foundation can withstand Taiwan's tough weather conditions and seabed movement, including from typhoons and earthquakes which are common in this region.

We’re learning a lot from the our colleagues in Taiwan and look forward to following in their footsteps by helping realise Australia's offshore wind opportunity.
